On Motes and Beams 微尘与栋梁 On Motes and Beams It is curious that our own offenses should seem so much less heinous than the offenses of others. I suppose the reason is that we know all the circumstances that have occasioned them and so manage to excuse in ourselves what we cannot excuse in others. We turn our attention away from our own defects,and when we are forced by untoward events to consider them,find it easy to condone them. For all I know we are right to do this; they are part of us and we must accept the good and bad in ourselves together. But when we come to judge others,it is not by ourselves as we really are that we judge them,but by an image that we have formed of ourselves fro which we have left out everything that offends our vanity or would discredit us in the eyes of the world. To take a trivial instance: how scornful we are when we catch someone out telling a lie; but who can say that he has never told not one,but a hundred? There is not much to choose between men. They are all a hotchpotch of greatness and littleness,of virtue and vice,of nobility and baseness. Some have more strength of character,or more opportunity,and so in one direction or another give their instincts freer play,but potentially they are the same. For my part,I do not think I am any better or any worse than most people,but I know that if I set down every action in my life and every thought that has crossed my mind,the world would consider me a monster of depravity. The knowledge that these reveries are common to all men should inspire one with tolerance to oneself as well as to others. On Wisdom
When it comes to wisdom,people hold different opinions.In my view,
wisdom is closely related to knowledge.Without knowledge,wisdom can not be gained.Knowledge is the root of wisdom and wisdom is the fruit of knowledge.
How can we again wisdom? Personally I think ,we should follow three steps:
For one thing,feel everything around you by heart and develop the habit of remember useful imformation.
For another,try to learn valuable books as more as possible.As the old saying goes:a good book is the best of friends,the same today and forever.
Last but not least ,you had better put what you have learnt into practice.Because doing is better than saying!
In one word ,Rome is not built in a day.As time goes on,you can gain wisdom surely if you do as I metion above.

谈智慧
当谈及智慧，人们往往仁者见仁，智者见智，在我看来，智慧与知识紧密相关。没有知识，就无从获得智慧。就好比，知识是智慧的根，智慧是知识的果。
我们如何才能获得智慧呢？依我个人之见，我们应遵循一下“汲取智慧的三步曲”。
一方面，用心感知周围的一切，培养记忆有用信息的好习惯。
另一方面，试着尽可能多的读一些有价值的书籍。正如谚语所说：一本好书，相伴一生。
最后同样重要的一点，你最好将你所学到的应用到实践中。因为与其挂在嘴上，不如落实在行动上。
总之，冰冻三尺非一日之寒。如果你按照上述所讲的去做，随着时间的推移，你必定能获取智慧。

Many say their most painful moments are saying good-bye to those they love. After watching Cheryl,my daughter-in-law,through the six long months her mother suffered towards death,I think the most painful moments can be in the waiting to say good-bye. Cheryl made the two-hour trip over and over to be with her mother. They spent the long afternoons praying,soothing,comforting,and retelling their shared memories.As her mother's pain intensified and more medication was needed to ease her into sedation,Cheryl sat for hours of silent vigil by her mother's bed.Each time she kissed her mother before leaving,her mother would tear up and say,"I'm sorry you drove so far and sat for so long and I didn't even wake up to talk with you." Cheryl would tell her not to worry,it didn't matter,still her mother felt she had let her down and apologized at each good-bye until the day Cheryl found a way to give her mother the same reassurance her mother had given to her so many times."Mom,do you remember when I made the high school basketball team?" Cheryl's mother nodded. "You'd drive so far and sit for so long and I never even left the bench to play. You waited for me after every game and each time I felt bad and apologized to you for wasting your time." Cheryl gently took her mother's hand."Do you remember what you would say to me?""I would say I didn't come to see you play,I came to see you." "And you meant those words,didn't you.""Yes,I really did.""Well,now I say the same words to you. I didn't come to see you talk,I came to see you." Work For a Large Company or a Small Company? Nowadays,with the development of the society,more and more people want to work for a large company. In fact,a large company can give the employees more benefits than a small company can. Therefore,it's good to work for a big company. First,a large company has good welfare,while the small company doesn't have. As we all know,large companies have abundant funds,and they will give much better paid to the employees than the small companies do. Many people want to work for a big company,mostly because they can get stable incomes from the company. What's more,the employees may get more year-end bonus from a big company. Besides,they are beneficial from the insurance which the big companies buy for them. Therefore,people like to work for a big company rather than a small company. (good development) Second,a large company' mature training system offers greater potentials than a small company can for future personal development. . Having much experience in business,the large companies have some perfect operated systems,so that they can develop well. For example,the big companies have some mature systems of how to control the procedures of the production,how to manage the employees,how to cultivate some employees to be skilled workers,and so on. And the employees can improve their abilities of management from the big company. However,the small companies don't have some maturing systems,and sometimes they can not manage well. Therefore,many people prefer to work for a big company. Third,a large company can provide more developmental space for the employees than the small company can. There are many skilled workers in the big company. The employees can learn from each other to improve themselves. They can also meet more companions from different nations and learn from them.
