IguazuFallsarewaterfallsoftheIguazuRiverlocatedontheborderoftheBrazilianStateofParanáandtheArgentineProvinceofMisiones.ThefallsdividetheriverintotheupperandlowerIguazu.TheIguazuRiverstartsatthecityofCuritibaandrunsforthemostpartofthecourseinBrazilandattheendattheborderofBrazilandArgentina.

Two-thirdsofthefallsarewithinArgentineterritory.about900metersofthe2.7-kilometerlengthdoesnothavewaterflowingoverit.Theedgeofthebasaltcaprecedesby3mm(0.1in)peryear.ThewaterofthelowerIguazucollectsinacanyonthatdrainsintheParanáRiver,ashortdistancedownstreamfromtheItaipuDam.ThejunctionofthewaterflowsmarkstheborderbetweenBrazil,Argentina,andParaguay.TherearepointsinthecitiesofFozdoIguau,Brazil,PuertoIguazú,Argentina,andCiudaddelEste,Paraguay,whichhaveaccesstotheIguazuRiverwherethebordersofallthreecountriescanbeseen,apopulartouristattractionforvisitorstothethreecities.

MostvisitorsreachthefallsfromtheArgentinesidethroughthecityofPuertoIguazú.BrazilandParaguayrequirecitizensofsomecountriesenteringfromArgentinatoobtainvisas,whichistime-consuming.Forexample,NorthAmericanvisitorstoArgentinacrossingtoseethefallsfromtheBraziliansidemustrequestavisainpersonattheBrazilianconsulateintheArgentinecityofPuertoIguazú.

TherearetwointernationalairportsclosetoIguassuFalls:theBrazilianFozdoIguauInternationalAirport(IGU)andtheArgentineCataratasdelIguazúInternationalAirport(IGR).BothairportsareseveralkilometersfromtheIguassuFallsandfromtheneighboringcitiesofFozdoIguau,BrazilandPuertoIguazu,Argentina.LANAirlinesandAerolíneasArgentinashavedirectflightsfromBuenosAiresandseveralBrazilianairlinesasTAMAirlines,GOL,Azul,WebJetofferservicefromthemainBraziliancitiestoFozdoIguau.

Brazil'sChapadadosVeadeirosNationalParkislocatedintheChapadadosVeadeiros,anancientplateauwithanestimatedageof1.8billionyears.basedintheBrazilianstateofGoias,theParkwascreatedonJanuary11,1961byPresidentJuscelinoKubitscheck,andlistedasaWorldHeritageSitebyUnescoin2001.Itoccupiesanareaof655squarekilometresandismaintainedbyIBAMA.

Theaverageyearlytemperatureis24-26degreesCelsius,rangingfromaminimumof4-8degreesCelsiusandreachingamaximumof40-42degreesCelsius.

Itsrockformationsareoneoftheoldestontheplanet.Therearequartzwithoutcropsofcrystals.TheserocksareexportedandappreciatedinJapanandEngland,whereforsomedecadestheywereusedforindustrialwork.NowadaystherapistsandnatureloversseekenergiesandthepowertocurefromthecrystalsandfromplaceslikeAltoParaiso.RockcrystalsarepresentinthesoiloftherichCerrado,oropenpasture.Forestgrowthisalsostillfoundintheregion,wheremorethan25speciesoforchidscanbefound,besidesotherBrazilianspeciessuchasPaud'ArcoRoxo,Copaíba(CopaTree),Aroeira(Californiapeppertree),Tamanqueira(CorkTree),Jerivá(avarietyofPalmTree),Buritis(Wine-palm)andBabau(Babassu).ThemainriverintheparkistheRioPreto,atributaryoftheTocantinsRiver.Alongitscourse,therearemanywaterfalls,suchastheRioPretoFalls(120metershigh,80metersatthebase)andtheCariocasFalls.Thecanyonsarejustasbeautiful,withwallsofupto40metershighandvalleysofupto300meters
