RC要求的核心能力:逻辑阅读能力
RC阶段对学生的核心要求:对于任何一段话,你都能迅速识别里面的逻辑和它想表述的目的,而不会受任何干扰。
我最佩服的老师一句很经典的话:讲什么英文翻译成什么中文是很可怕的。就像你和有些人交流,你知道他说的是什么意思,但是你从来不去思考他为什么会这么说,或者他说这么多话其中的脉络到底是什么。经常恋人之间吵架在经历过疯狂的输出之后,有一个人会很崩溃的说:你到底想说什么?生活中任何一句简单的话都隐含着内在的逻辑,比如说你女朋友和你说我室友男朋友昨天给她买了一只dior的口红”,她的逻辑是对比:我室友男朋友买口红,我男朋友没买。”或者 我与我室友对比,她的男朋友给她买口红,我的男朋友没买”。这个时候你该怎么接?当然是我也给你买好了,在路上呢”然后赶紧京东下单,明天早晨迅速拿给她。一样的,商业领域里也是,你和客户交流,你听到他说的话要做两件事情:1 思考他这么多话的逻辑是什么,他想表达什么?2 他为什么要说这句话?第1项就是细节题、部分推理题。第2项就是主旨题,部分推理题,功能题。商科要求你锻炼这方面的能力,并且用RC去测试你这方面的能力,你要做的就是努力锻炼这种能力,而不是去看看细节题有哪些解题技巧、推理题有哪些解题技巧。第一,看不懂文章,有技巧也没用,第二,真正厉害的技巧都是建立在逻辑阅读能力之上的。
阅读三境界:
一、入眼不入脑
经历过实战的人都会有一个共感:在真正考试的时候都不知道自己在看什么,太着急了根本看不进脑海里去。SC太着急了不能看出原句的intend meaning,只是知道这里平行不对,做完了题都不知道在讲什么,CR太长了根本看不进去整篇在讲什么,RC更长,简直蒙了,大幅度略过,只知道这篇文章再讲一个叫什么的东西。
二、见文识义
到这个阶段,能够看得进去了,看到英文能够反应出中文的意思了。
三、逻辑阅读
上个阶段是雅思过了78的人能达到的,但是即使雅思过8,也不具备这第三层次的能力。看到一句英文你不是仅仅翻译成中文,知道它表面的意思,而是要将他的逻辑给抽离出来,这句话想表示的是对比、因果还是论证?
举个例子:
eg1:Like brown bears and polar bears (and unlike other myrmecophagous mammals, which are noted for their passivity), sloth bears are easily provoked to aggression. 这句话看了之后你知道了什么?
见文识义境界:就像棕熊和北极熊(也不同于其他以被动著称的食蚁兽),树懒熊很容易被激怒。
逻辑阅读境界:看出了对比关系:棕熊、北极熊和树熊容易被激怒,食蚁兽不容易被激怒。
eg2:while other studies have reported that price has little or no effect on perceived performance risk.
见文识义境界:而其他的研究报告说,价格对预知的表现风险影响很小或根本没有影响。
逻辑阅读境界:看出了因果关系:price不能导致performance risk
很多人都将阅读当成GMAT的核心,因为一旦你阅读能力提升了,文章读的懂了,RC和CR都轻而易举,而且这种能力的提升是切实的,不会因为任何外在的技巧而改变。
误区:很多人上了一些机构的课,学到的RC解决办法就是:考试时间太短,你没办法全部把文章读懂,只需要读一个大概,然后按照题目往回找就行。这种说法是很不负责任的,你想考600分,650分,你可以这么做,凭借所谓的考试技巧去投机取巧,然后通过了这场考试,你丢了很多钱很多时间,本身的英语水平学习能力没有丝毫的变化。你想上7,阅读阅读,试问你连一篇文章都没有看懂,就妄图考高分,那要这个阅读有什么用?就像考试你题目都不看,凭借三短一长选长,三长一短选短一样去考六十分,扪心自问,你觉得这样做靠谱吗?
GMAT:文章短小,一般两三段,长的四段。
特点:逻辑紧密,每个逻辑都可能考到
做题:回文定位,识别考点,逻辑推理
雅思: 文章长,一般七八段
特点:文章长多废话,很多内容都考不到
做题:回文定位,一一对应,同义替换
所以,不要再用以前雅思托福考试的阅读方法去对待GMAT阅读了,读懂文章是第一步。
识别逻辑
逻辑分类:对比、因果、论证
2.1对比考点:对比考点关键词:
1)普通强对比:①likeA, .. analogous to, similar ..... both..and, as ...②unlikeA, ... whereas, contraryto, compare to, differ from ,more than, exceed, outnumber, However, Although., but, evenif/even when, despite(反驳前文)
2)时间状语强对比:①now, new, nowadays, current ideas和过去比②once, until recently, past和现在比
3)最高级,唯一性词汇:most ,only , least, first, always ,never ,sole
例题:
Like brown bears and polar bears (and unlike other myrmecophagous mammals, which are noted for their passivity), sloth bears are easily provoked to aggression.
1. Which of the following is mentioned in the passage as a way in which brown bears and sloth bears are similar?
A They tend to become aggressive when provoked.
B They live almost exclusively in treeless environments.
C They are preyed upon by animals that can climb or topple trees.
D They are inefficient in their locomotion.
E They have relatively large canine teeth.
任何题目的目的都是测试你有没有识别原文的逻辑考点,并且进行基本的逻辑推理。识别是最难的,推理一般都是取反互推,而比较容易。
2.2因果考点:
1)湿性
①原因/結果状悟: because, because of, since, due to, so that, thus, doing
②名同: factor, effect, consequence, reason,
③条件/方式/伴随: by, if, unless (if not),with ,?自向自答
④动词:常见: cause, make, led to, affect , result from ,result in , contribute to , depend on,
attribute to因, ascribe to因, be necessitated by因, be related to, be correlated with,
少见:理科观点:谓语动词,使役动词,使····
例题::while other studies have reported that price has little or no effect on perceived performance risk.
